FAQs

What is the difference between mental health coaching and mental health therapy? Mental health therapy and mental health coaching are two distinct approaches to supporting mental wellbeing. Therapy, often conducted by licensed professionals such as psychologists, licensed marriage and family therapists and licensed clinical social workers involves diagnosing and treating mental health disorders. It's often a long-term process that delves into past traumas and emotional issues to change harmful patterns. On the other hand, mental health coaching, which does not require a specific license, focuses on helping individuals manage their mental health, set goals, and develop coping strategies. It is typically future-oriented and does not involve diagnosing or treating mental health conditions.

Do you accept insurance? At this time I do not accept insurance, however if you do wish to use your insurance, I can provide you with a superbill which may be able to be submitted to your insurance in order to receive reimbursment for therapy sessions. In order to use a superbill, you will need to contact your insurance provider and ask what the process is. In some cases you may have a deductible you need to meet, prior to being reimbursed for therapy sessions.

What is your rate for therapy and coaching services? My rate for services is currently $225 an hour. In order to make my services accessible, I do offer a number of sliding scale slots. I negotiate sliding scale rates based on a conversation discussing what you can afford and what your needs are. In some cases, we may negotiate a shorter session for a lower rate. If you have further questions about this, please reach out to me (in the "lets connect" box on the left) to discuss further.

Do you see clients who reside in any state or anywhere in the world? I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. My regulatory agency requires that individuals who seek mental health therapy services with me reside in the state of California. For mental health coaching services, I am able to see clients who reside anywhere in the world.

What Clients are Saying

"I always feel so much better after our sessions.  I feel like our meetings are a washing machine for my soul."
"You are the first therapist I've had that I felt that I could truly open up to.  You have helped me to feel safe to be able to explore traumatic childhood memories that have been keeping me from being able to move forward in my life."
"I look forward to our sessions every week.  Before meeting you, I always thought that therapy was silly and a waste of time.  With you I have learned the value of investing in myself."
"Not to sound corny, but you are the best therapist I've ever had. You've been a big shining light in my therapy journey and I am immensely grateful for you."
